The Academy has roots in Civil Air Patrol and the Cadet Program that go back to the 1960s. The original Organization was named after the famous Air Force Aviator, Col. Michael McCoy, who was Commander of the Strategic Air Command Wing at Pine Castle Air Force Base.  The McCoy Cadet Squadron was active in the 1960s and Major Richard Brinkman our Financial Officer was a Cadet in that Squadron.

The Squadron was McCoy Cadet Squadron until the 1984 when the name was changed to Eagle Composite Squadron under the Command of Capt. Jerry Waller, the present School Commander.

This is a Group picture of the Award Winning Squadron Drill Team of November 1986.
